IVAN FOSS Peacefully on October 14, 2003, Ivan Foss aged 89, passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Ivan is survived by his loving wife Ragna of 63 years; sons, Ivan Jr., Larry (Susan) daughters, Sonja (Bob), Sharon (Rick) grandchildren, Laura, Paul, Andrew, Grant, Christy, Jennifer, Amy, Rachel, Christopher, Geoffery, and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Bradley, Ryan, Brennah, Kiera, Brittney, Julian, Katja, and Nicholas; brother Frank (Yvonne) and sister Evelyn. Dad was born in Norway and in 1919, immigrated to Canada at the age of five. He married Ragna on June 29, 1940 and later joined the Navy. They were stationed in Shelbourne, Nova Scotia, and after the war returned to Winnipeg, MB. At the age of 64, Ivan retired from Headingley Correctional Institute as a correctional officer, but continued his working life as a sub-contractor in the building industry until he was 78. Ivan enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family and friends, and was an avid Blue Bomber fan. The family would like to thank the Home Care (WRHA) attendants for all their help and assistance, and the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and understanding. Funeral service will be held on Thursday October 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with a public viewing at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow.
